Tony & I are not keen on staying at campgrounds when we camp. I dont know why, its not something we really do and we prefer camping for free on BLM land.  I guess it is nice to do paid campsites on occasion which is what we did on our Yosemite trip.

We camped exactly at New Melones Lake in Angels Camp but went through the small town of Tuttletown. When I check in on the Swarm app, that's the info it gave me. It also said Tuttletown Recreation area.

Most of the campsites we wanted were taken by the time we got there but there was a lot to choose from. So many were at a slant it seemed - esp for tent campers. That would not be comfy! We had one spot the first night but moved because a fox type of animal decided to die right by the teardrop. Too hot? Sick? Who knows. We moved the teardrop to the spot above and it was nice minus a black widow under our picnic table. Eek!

Each area had a campfire ring and Tony & I found a bunch of wood to collect on a walk down towards the lake so we were set for foil dinner making and s'mores!

I was not aware the chocolate had not made it in to the cooler so it was melty but hardened right up once I stuck it in the ice. Still useable and tasty!

Here's our finished foil dinners. Last time we made them (in the backyard fire pit) we burned them by accident. This time they turned out perfect except we forgot salt and pepper. Ah well! Adding that to our list of things to include in the teardrop camper. 

Just relaxing for a moment. We brought our gravity chairs - win! - and spent a little time just chilling in them which is something we do not do while camping. Usually we are go go go!

Tony really wanted to go check out the lake so we did that for a bit and it was very refreshing to stand in. However, Tony was disappointed because it was dirtier looking than he thought it would be / up close and I guess he didnt feel like getting in and I'm picky about bodies of water I get in so I opted not to get in. I think it would have been more fun if we'd had a boat , kayak, jet skis or something to play with on the water but not have to be submerged IN the water. Yanno?

All in all it was an okay campground. I didnt care for how close everyone was to each other but some areas had less people. The bathroom was nice and the shower was decent although you had to pay 50 cents for 5 minutes which we did not know about beforehand. It was on the expensive side (to me) I think $44 for 2 nights? Eek! I know that is cheaper than a hotel but we were not even using any hookups! There were some really loud people not far from us and that was annoying. It was also very hot - we were gone during the day but at night it didn't cool down much and on the 2nd night Tony slept in his gravity chair because he was too hot in the teardrop. I didnt even bother getting in the sleeping bag. Adding to the list - a fan for the teardrop!
